Williams and Her Stylish Side

Not only does Serena Williams bring home the dough from her $55 million dollar Nike contract, she has her own line within nike. This wasn't enough to satisfy her interest in fashion, she is releasing her own Serena Williams Signature Statement Collection. The collections pieces, including accessories, will range from $29.5 to $100. This collection is scheduled to release April 30th, or this coming thursday on the Home Shopping Network.

If you have ever seen Serena on the court you can definitely see her statement making feminine clothes. Half the time I wonder why she plays tennis professionally with such bold earrings on. Anyhow, she does have some credentials including attending the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and a line that she released called Aneres in 2004. Pieces from the Serena Williams Collection by Nike can be seen here.

James Blake and Mardy Fish Slide on Clay

This week begun the US Men's Clay Court Championship as Americans Mardy Fish and James Blake played as the top two seeds. Both top contenders failed to move to the second round after first round upsets. Upsets like these don't come often in tennis, but its even more a shame that it was two american hopefuls that lost. The difference of play on clay really changes rankings and creates the need for tennis professionals to be well rounded in all forms of the game. The US Men's Clay Court Championship is held in houston and the finals will be played this weekend.

Roddick Struggles To Continue Dominance

Even though moving from the 6th world spot to the 5th world spot from his performance in the Indian Wells tournament helped, it wasn't enough. Last night Roddick lost to world number 2 Roger Federer in the quarterfinals. Andy Roddick seems stuck so close to being the top player in the world for such a long time. These two athletes have met 19 times, and of those 19 Roddick has only managed 2 victories. The previous year he won this same tournament and it is a shame that he couldn't edge out this victory because he is leading the ATP tour with a 26-5 record for 2009.
